The Verse Novel Shelf is a free website for browsing novels in verse. This page explains what information it keeps and why.
Browsing without an account
You don't need an account to use the shelf. The site doesn't track visitors, doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies, and doesn't sell or share any information. It remembers one setting in your own browser: which section (middle grade, young adult or all) you looked at last.
If you sign in
You can sign in with an emailed link or with your Google account. Signing in lets you keep a private list of your reading. The site stores:
- your email address, so you can sign in again;
- the reading you record: shelves, ratings, page numbers, start and finish dates, and notes.
If you sign in with Google, the site receives only your name, email address and profile picture from Google. It uses your email address to sign you in, and it doesn't use your name or picture. It doesn't get access to your Gmail, contacts, files or anything else in your Google account.
Only you can see your reading. It isn't shared, sold or used for advertising.
Your choices
Signed in, open the My reading menu at the top of the page to:
- Download my reading: save a copy of everything you've recorded;
- Delete my account: permanently remove your email address and all of your reading.
Services the site uses
- Supabase provides sign-in and stores accounts and reading.
- Cloudflare hosts the website.
- Google Fonts provides the typefaces.
- Google handles "Continue with Google" sign-in, if you choose it. Google's sign-in button is loaded from Google when you open the Sign in window.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
