Jaime Adoff

Sixteen-year-old Jayson lives in the Florida projects with his abusive mother, struggles to fit in at his mostly white school and to stay connected to his drug-addicted father, and comes to believe the only thing he controls is whether to live or die.

After his music-producer father is killed, thirteen-year-old Keith moves with his mother from Brooklyn to small-town Ohio, where he learns his father kept secrets, including a half-brother named Jimi.
